In his letter ‘Cleanliness at St Paul’s Bay’ (October 28) Bernard Vassallo wrote: “Observers of the St Paul’s Bay old town centre have noted that this area is dirty and ripe for a thorough clean up.”

The local council of St Paul’s Bay is doing its utmost to ensure a clean environment.

In this context, all bars and catering establishments operating in this zone should begin to collaborate by respecting rules and regulations which say they are supposed to sign an agreement with any private garbage collector (contractor) at their own expense.

Not only are they not doing so but, to add insult to injury, they are throwing away garbage either late at night or in the early hours of the following morning, thereby turning a beautiful tourist attraction in a dumping site.
