Opposition leader Simon Busuttil should say when he learnt that former Health Minister Joe Cassar had accepted gifts from Joe Gaffarena, the Labour Party said.

In a statement the PL said Dr Cassar had been the only minister to support Dr Busuttil’s race for the PN’s deputy leadership and when Dr Cassar resigned, Dr Busuttil had said he was sorry to see him go. He had also said the same about former minister Giovanna Debono, whose husband was implicated the works for votes scandal in Gozo.

Dr Busuttil, the PL said, was trying to benefit from Dr Cassar’s decision even though on the eve of the former minister’s resignation he had said he did not see why Dr Cassar should not remain an MP.

Dr Busuttil, the PL said, was being held hostage of his own Parliamentary Group. This was because he could not decide about his MPs, including about Dr Cassar who had taken his own decision.
