Hibernians’ aspirations to retain the title suffered another hiccup today after they were held to a 2-2 draw by a battling Sliema Wanderers side at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Andrei Agius’s first-half goal seemed to have been enough for the Hiberians to lower the Hotspurs' colours. However, Stephen Azzopardi’s lads turn tables on the Paolites with two goals on each side of half-time courtesy of Mark Scerri and Kerlon.

Yet, Branko Nisevic’s side kept fighting till the end and were rewarded for the endeavour with a hard-earned point, Bjorn Kristensen hitting the equaliser 12 minutes from time.

Bu the frustration on the Hibs fan’s faces was evident as the referee Fyodor Zammit blew the final whistle. A win could have added more pressure on leaders Valletta in ahead of tomorrow’s match against Mosta.

Now Hibs are in fifth place with Floriana trail Valletta and Birkirkara by two points albeit Valletta have a game in hand.
