A 41-year-old Maltese athlete who has accomplished various half ironman triathlons, the ironman and the double ironman triathlons is aiming to break the Guinness Word Record for the most completed half ironman distances within a year.

Kevin Attard aims to complete 52 half ironmans in 2017 - one per week - to break the current record of 22 held by American James Lawrence.

Mr Attard’s challenge has been called ‘52in1’, representing 52 half ironmans in one year.

As part of his training, Mr Attards runs at the University Ground and swims at the National Pool every day.

In a bid to encourage people to get on the move and incorporate physical exercise in their daily lives, he is inviting the public to train with him “so that together we can all create more awareness regarding the importance of exercise”.
