All bartenders working at Hard Rock Malta were invited to take their place behind the bar and showcase their bartending skills for the chance to be crowned Hard Rock Barocker Local Champion 2015, an annual event that takes place in Hard Rock Cafes across the globe.
The panel of judges was made up of ITS lecturer Richard Pons, musician Daryl Curmi and Shandelle Azzopardi, director of operations at Hard Rock Cafe Malta. Competitors were judged on several key components, including recipe knowledge, pour testing, accuracy, speed, flair and showmanship.
For the showmanship round, all bartenders were asked to choose two cocktails from Hard Rock Cafe’s award-winning drinks menu which includes Hurricanes, Margaritas, signature favourites and Alternative Rock (alcohol-free) beverages.
At the end of the night, Valletta Waterfront bartender Ben Miller took the Barocker title home, while Baystreet bartender Daryl Grima was runner up.
