Nationalist MP Charlo Bonnici announced today that he will not be seeking re-election at the next general election.

The 48-year-old said he would continue to serve as an MP until this legislature is over.

Speaking at a social event, Mr Bonnici said the decision was taken after a long period of reflection.

He said he would continue to give his full backing to the PN and he was proud of his service.

Mr Bonnici, former deputy mayor of Attard, was first elected to Parliament in 2008 and has served on the parliamentary social and family affairs committees. He is currently the PN spokesman on hunting.
