The General Workers’ Union insisted today that the way it leased part of the government-owned premises it occupies in Valletta to Arms Ltd was according to law as interpreted by the Maltese courts.

The union was reacting to a National Audit Report published yesterday, which found irregularities in the lease.

It said it would continue to insist on this position if any further action is taken.

In a statement today, the GWU said it met and corresponded with the National Audit Office giving all the information requested. It explained to the office that, according to the advice it had been given, its position and actions were according to law.
