Simon Busuttil’s reply to the Budget speech confirmed his statesmanship-like qualities, rendering him the leader fit to lead this country with honesty.

His vision is marked by clarity. He knows the importance of striking a balance between economic growth and sustainability.

He believes in an economy for the people and not people for the economy. He believes in creating opportunities for all in order to enhance the worth and dignity of every individual.

While his criticism is constructive his proposals are convincing.

He is competently leading an alternative government based on the best European standards, consistency and transparency. In particular, PL supporters who do not belong to the inner circle of those benefiting from exorbitant salaries and remuneration know what Busuttil means when he speaks of a just distribution of wealth.

Equally appreciated is the role of the Opposition in keeping the people informed of what is being kept secret.

Busuttil’s genuine approach and factual accuracy contrast sharply with the absence of clarification due to the people from Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Muscat has been secretive since – and prior to – the 2013 election campaign. Information on his road map to solve every problem was practically non-existent. Today, it is being transformed into a road map leading to nowhere.

Furthermore, Labour’s electoral manifesto did not include the sale of citizenship because it must have been considered to be anything but vote-catching.

It was not so however when it came to the wise decision to promise continuity and the implementation of the 2013 PN Budget. Here, Muscat himself was acknowledging achievements based on a sound economy thanks to the PN best policies. Today, we are still reaping the benefits of a successful economic strategy to the extent of overcoming a global economic crisis.

This is a credible Opposition and an alternative government that is led by a versatile and honest leader belonging to the PN hallmarked by major accomplishments for this country.
