On 30 September the Times of Malta published my letter on behalf of Wirt San Ġwann as well as a photo of Tal-Prepostu Chapel at Tal-Balal, San Ġwann.

We are informed that the local council has sent numerous letters to the government about the disgusting accumulation of waste material and other rubbish on the side of this historical chapel, as can be seen from this photo.

What we would like to know is who is responsible to see to the preservation of our heritage. Heritage Malta, the Ministry for Culture, the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage, the local council, the Enforcement Section of Mepa, the Cultural Heritage Committee of Mepa, the Public Cleansing Department, the Health Department, Transport Malta, the Tourism Authority, the Lands Department, the police, who?

Are all these absolved of this scandalous inaction?

Is it only Wirt San Ġwann that has to make some noise, a non-government organisation with no executive power?

Is nobody responsible to protect our heritage according to the Cultural Heritage Act? Who has the executive powers at law to protect our heritage? We hope to have some kind of positive reply from one of the esteemed authorities mentioned above.
