The government administration has spoken at length on the slogan Gvern li Jisma (a government that listens), however it seems that certain officials employed in the public service are nothing but intransigent.

I am referring to the customer care at Blata-l-Bajda who are concerned with the electricity and water departments. For many long months I have been contacting this office regarding two issues: excessive bills and the shifting, without any approval, of two meters from my property to a pharmacy next door.

I am not going to mention any names, but a certain official, after lengthy bothering, granted two different appointments to discuss my complaints.

“At last! I am acknowledged,” I said to myself. But the meeting failed on both occasions.

On the morrow of the first date, at 8 in the morning, the telephone buzzed: “The meeting is cancelled.”

Is this a serious department? These officials seems to forget that their salaries come from our taxes.
