The first car to be built by Apple will be launched in 2019 according to reports from the USA. Famous for its iPhones and iPads, Apple is looking to move into the automotive sector, but it looks like its first car will not be self-driving to begin with.

Apple was hoping to be among the first to offer a completely autonomous car so the driver could concentrate on other things while travelling in the car. However, the car will still need driver input. Apple says full autonomy will be possible and is part of its long-term vehicle strategy. The 2019 launch date will be when the public first gets to see Apple’s electric car, which is thought to known as Project Titan within Apple’s tightly knit team of 600 workers developing the car. This date is not likely to be when the car goes on sale, though.

Apple has been hiring a number of highly regarded specialists from other car firms, such as Tesla, and has been looking for test locations to try out its autonomous vehicle technology.
