The next general election will undoubtedly be fought on Labour’s lack of ethical behaviour and the numerous political scandals that have gone unchecked. Gross mistakes, lack of ethical standards and certain decisions taken hastily by this administration could have been avoided and those who acted in an abusive manner should have been sacked.

Voters who opted for a change in administration in 2013 because of Joseph Muscat’s promise of a new way of doing politics, a roadmap which never existed and meritocracy first and foremost are now disgusted by scandals such as Cafe Premier, Australia Hall, Gaffarena and company, Identity Malta and so on.

Another serious mistake introduced by this administration is the practice of satisfying at all costs every whim of those so-called Labour supporters who claim to have suffered a form of injustice during the PN government.

Complaints against the administration should only be allowed if they are addressed to the Office of the Ombudsman. This also applies to the PN which has set up an office to receive complaints of political discrimination on which a future government would act.

Both political parties, and especially the Labour Party in government, should not allow selfish people to undo all the good work done so far if they want to keep on solid ground their fortunes for the next general election.
