St Francis School, Victoria, was awarded €2,500 after it won the 2014-5 edition of Wasteserv’s Battery Buster Campaign.

Its pupils collected over 200 kilos of used batteries, making it the school that collected the most per capita among the 174 competing schools.

The money is to be used by the school for an environmental or scientific educational project or invested in resources that benefit the environment.

Enviroment Minister Leo Brincat and Gozo Minister Anton Refalo attended the prize-giving ceremony which was held at the school.
