I refer to your article entitled ‘Veil of secrecy over €2.8 million CHOGM roadworks’ (October 21).

The Transport Authority would like to clarify the following: As per normal practice, the authority notifies all media and the public about allroad works it carries out on arterial and distributor roads by giving details of the exact location of works, duration and where possible, suggests alternative routes.

To reduce inconvenience to motorists and avoid traffic congestion, where possible, such works are carried out during the night.

Contrary to what has been reported in the media, there is no secrecy surrounding the location of any type of roadworks carried out by Transport Malta. The very nature of works carried out, namely resurfacing of roads and related works, are very obvious for all to see.

Transport Malta is not the entity which should brief on the CHOGM routes.

It has been briefed so that it can proceed with the appropriate works but that does not give TM the liberty to share such information.
