Malta saw the third largest drop in its debt-to-GDP ratio at the end of the second quarter of 2015, the Finance Ministry noted today, quoting Eurostat figures.

These figures, it said, corroborate the data released by the National Statistics Office earlier this week regarding the fall in the absolute value of Malta’s national debt.

Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said it was ironic that the Opposition was making claims that were contrary to the official European statistics showing that the debt burden had been increasing during the previous administration and decreasing ever since.
