A sunken 16th Century church in Chiapas, Mexico, has emerged after the water levels in a surrounding reservoir dropped.

The church was built in 1554 by Dominican friars.

When the reservoir was added in 1966, the area flooded. Waters rose above the church's 10-meter tall walls.

Then when the drought hit the Grijalba river this year, the water levels dropped some 24 meters, revealing a decrepit interior but a cultural wonder.
