Did you watch the Budget or follow any Budget analysis?

A new public-private partnership called Education Malta will be set up to promote Malta as an international education hub: Does the current education system have what it takes?

Unless the partnership leads to an overhaul of the system’s most glaring drawbacks and a massive investment in efficient personnel, it will be unable to cope with both its local and ever-increasing international aspects. Matthew Charles Zammit

The system is moving in the right direction albeit hitting some rough patches. I am concerned whether our infrastructure can handle the influx of students arriving and using present systems. Tyler Cassar

Malta is a popular destination for international students. Education Malta’s main aim to transform the University into a residential centre and improving students’ campus life. Stipends are to be given to full-time mature students: Is this an unnecessary burden, or a fruitful investment?

Most mature students have paid income tax before starting their studies. Given that they are sacrificing full-time employment to further their education, the incentive would help more people take this step that will reap dividends in future. Matthew Charles Zammit

Giving stipends to full-time mature students is a fruitful investment in our country’s workforce. People who might have not had been able to further their education due to financial constraints now have an incentive to help them progress in their careers. Tyler Cassar

Giving stipends to full-time mature students will definitely be fruitful. This is a great initiative especially for mothers who have opted to stop work to continue pursuing their career and studies. Joanna Incorvaja
