The reception of the BBC on Campus FM in the St Julian’s area is often very low and hardly audible. This was the case on October 9-11. I called twice to inform the technician. Nobody answered the phone.

This problem has been going on for years, and I reported the problem many times by phone to Campus FM technicians.

When they do answer the phone, their first reaction is disbelief. Their second response is a reluctant “I’ll report it to so-and-so”. In the meantime, the problem is ongoing.

It shouldn’t be such a hard task to make the BBC reception comfortably audible. All it takes is for the technician to monitor the transmission on a daily basis.

There were times, in fact, when I heard the technician on Campus FM in the process of adjusting the volume from loud to low or moderate.

For some reason or other, he then decides that a low volume is good enough.

It’s about time that the manager of Campus FM takes some responsibility for this matter.

She should see to it that someone answers the phone when it rings, and that the low reception of the BBC in the St Julian’s area is solved once and for all, with no excuses about high-rise buildings, windy weather and so forth.
