The flood relief  project is due to be completed in its entirety early in December, Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi said in Parliament today.

He said the section which remains uncompleted lies between Birkirkara and Msida.

The components of the project in Zebbug, Qormi, Zabbar-Marsascala and Gzira have been completed.

The Birkirkara-Msida section was due to be completed in the summer but delays were caused by problems found in the drainage system in Lija which had existed for a long time.

A section of the gallery in Birkirkara was widened to handle more storm water and previously unplanned culverts were dug in Iklin to take run-off water from Naxxar, and Triq il-Mithna, Birkirkara to handle water which used to flow onto Naxxar Road.
