Students following courses at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology’ Institute of Creative Arts participated in an EU Art project supported by the Comenius programme.

The project focused on the use of new teaching techniques to develop future generations of artists as creative risk takers capable of developing new ideas, techniques and processes to produce effective outcomes.

Participants created picture books using different creative techniques to introduce children in kindergartens and nurseries to aspects of the various project partners’ culture.

At each meeting the partners developed workshops to teach new ideas and creative techniques. After each workshop the students created a picture book based on the country hosting the meeting. The content and the methods were documented on a DVD, in a children’s book and on the website below, so that schools can use these materials during their lessons.

Mcast said the project greatly impacted teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the teaching and learning of art subjects. The project was co-ordinated by Charles Pace Briffa and students.
