The 2015-16 Malta Amateur Football Association (MAFA) season got underway last weekend with the clash between Valletta St Paul’s and Vittoriosa Lightnings for the Joe Compagno Cup. Play was balanced and no team succeeded in finding any breakthrough in the opening half. However, Valletta St Paul’s scored the goal that mattered midway through the second period when Kane Psaila fired home what proved to be the winning goal. At the end of the match, Valletta St Paul’s captain Jean Claude Camilleri received the Joe Compagno Cup from MAFA secretary general David Abdilla. Picture shows the St Paul’s players and officials celebrate with their trophies at the Sta Luċija football ground.
