Good food, good wine, good company, all wrapped up in the romantic setting of a candlelit city, are the best ingredients for a great night out; and it all begins tonight in Vittoriosa.

Birgufest, expected to attract thousands of people over three days, is the second of three October events supported by Delicata’s award-winning wines. Last week there was Notte Bianca in Valletta, and next weekend there is Lejl f ’Casal Fornaro in Qormi.

At Birgufest, visitors can enjoy historic re-enactments, extended and cheaper museum entrances, the opening of churches and auberges and a variety of traditional music, choirs, local and foreign bands. Tomorrow night, Vittoriosa’s historic and architectural beauty can be enjoyed by candlelight, as all of the streets and houses of this magnificent, idyllic city are lit up by thousands of candles.

Tonight and tomorrow night at certain areas around Vittoriosa, 14 Delicata wine stalls will be erected promoting an assortment of the winemaker’s IGT and DOK quality wine brands by the glass or by the bottle. Diners will also stumble upon numerous wine offers on Delicata’s wines in a variety of establishments in the locality.

The festival is organised by the Vittoriosa local council and the Malta Tourism Authority.
