CURMI DIMECH. On October 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN of Ħamrun, widower of Laura, née Jones, aged 68, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Ruth, wife of Mario Bajada, Nadine, Sarah and her partner Jason Schembri and Simon and his fiancée Nakita, his grandchildren Kurt, Omar, Ismail and Laura, his sister and brother, Rosalie, wife of John Sultana, Adrian and his partner Anna Friesenegger, and Chessie, widow of his brother Henry, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2pm for St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Community Chest Fund, Valletta, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAMO. On October 7, STELLA née SALIBA of Sliema, aged 91, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence in Birkirkara. She leaves to mourn her loss, her children Marlene, Rosette, Arthur, Paul, Elizabeth and Victor and their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her brother Paul, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9am for Sacre Cour Parish Church, Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi will be appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Road works

Transport Malta will be resurfacing parts of Għajn Tuffieħa Street, limits of Mġarr, from 8pm today to 5am tomorrow and again tomorrow from 8pm to 3pm on Saturday.

Transport Malta urged drivers to avoid the area during these times and to follow signs and directions by officials on site.

Fort St Angelo

Parts of the newly-restored Fort St Angelo will be open to the public on Sunday as part of this year’s Birgufest events. Heritage Malta said the fort will be officially opened later this year.

Tickets at €2 also provide same-day access to the Inquisitor’s Palace and the Malta Maritime Museum. The fort will be open between 9am and 5pm. The last admission is at 4. 30pm.

The Inquisitor’s Palace and the maritime museum will also be open tomorrow and on Saturday from 9am until late.

Missio Malta

Missio Malta is organising a walk around Mosta to mark World Mission Day on Sunday.

The event will begin with Mass at 9am at the chapel within the parking area of the new complex Pama in Pantar Street, Mosta.

The walk will start at 10am from Valletta Road, towards Independence Avenue and through various streets, ending at the Mosta football ground.
