I am totally convinced that this government, and Joe Mizzi in particular, is totally committed to solving our traffic problem, which only a few months ago was a mere perception. With time this perception became a nightmare and the nightmare, like so very few dreams, became a reality.

But the government, and Mizzi in particular, do not have just me to convince of their unwavering commitment to finding a resolution. I have to contend against the thousands that gainsay me, that clamour for Mizzi’s head. Could Mizzi’s head be Joseph Muscat?

I am a pushover, a patsy like no other. It’s the other uncouth thousands that’s the problem. A problem more so than the traffic even.

So a resolution to this problem, of convincing these thousands, may be found long before that to the traffic problem.

I am willing to stick my neck out (knowing full well that I will be able to retract it with my head still on) and wager that in the coming weeks this government, possessed of so steely a resolve and of a so well-defined and well-researched road map, will compensate monetarily all companies having workers arriving late for work, deliveries not meeting deadlines and passengers missing flights, because of clogged roads and traffic snarls.

For every euro handed out as compensation, a euro will be docked from the Cabinet members’ salary and in the event that a back-up is needed, Sai Mizzi will be ready, willing and able to oblige.

All the outlay will be recouped in no time.

For Mizzi will then take command of Malta’s oil exploration, will divine every gushing bottomless well with impeccable precision and sell it at $140 a barrel, and, in order to resolve the problem of high density traffic, pump prices will be pumped up three or even fourfold.
