Further to my letter ‘The public transport fiasco’ (September 29), I wish to share another experience with your readers along with many others who have already complained.

Following earlier promises of a better public transport service, my daughter applied for a Tallinja card as soon as it was announced. Today, she is still in possession of a blank card.

The public transport is today a subject of contention and it seems that there is still no light at all at the end of the tunnel. All promises keep evaporating into thin air.

With the reopening of schools after the summer recess, everyone was expecting the worst. And right they were, as traffic was a complete jam! It took my daughter nearly three hours to go from Mosta to Valletta and then to Luqa.

This is unheard of in this time and age. More so, when one realises the criticism levelled against Arriva and the amount of euros the new company Autobus de Lyon is receiving in subsidies – three times the amount Arriva used to get.

That Transport Malta is inefficient is now a well-known fact. Hopefully, the officer from TM who declared publicly that traffic jams on the roads were only a perception has by now realised that it was only she who saw it that way. It is a shameful reality.
