Having read the article (September 25) about what Europe should or should not be doing with migrants, I certainly do not agree with Aditus director Neil Falzon when he states that Malta should take the lead on solidarity by voluntarily accepting to host a greater number of migrants than the assigned quota of 189.

Does Falzon know what an impact these migrants will have on our economy? This is not a simple matter where one thinks with one’s heart but also with one’s brain.

We are a small island, with no natural resources, and cannot absorb such an unwanted burden. I am of the opinion that we have got enough boat people, asylum seekers and foreigners in general.

Unfortunately, the recent spate of robberies and incidents, which also included bodily harm, show that some of these people do not appreciate Malta’s goodwill. I am very wary about Malta’s future and many think the same way.
