The Tritons fountain will be kept at its current location outside Valletta's walls and will be restored to its original form, Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi said in a written reply to a parliamentary question today.

The minister told Labour MP Deborah Schembri that the fountain will be equipped with new mechanism according to modern standards.

A call for offers for the restoration, operation and maintenance of the fountain closes on October 27.

Times of Malta had given details on the restoration project in January. At the time the project was earmarked to start in the summer.
