I admire Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s chutzpah in defending his stance on the freezing of embryos. In a TV interview, he said: “Will it lose me votes? I don’t know and I don’t care.” That’s the way to deal with religious fanatics. Don’t argue with them. The Prime Minister also insisted that he’s scrapping the Catholic self-styled and self-serving ‘vilification’ law, which includedjail sentences reminiscent ofthe Inquisition.

The long-winded legal disquisitions of Kevin Aquilina, and the reactionary write-ups of Patrick Pullicino, published in this newspaper, did not sway the bold resolve of our Prime Minister.

Through Muscat, Malta is emerging from the theocracy under which it has languished for centuries.

I’ll vote for the Prime Minister in the next election.
