An inspection box in St Ignatius Junction, corner with Old College Street, Sliema, requires immediate attention before someone breaks a leg. Moreover, bollards damaged by irresponsible or inattentive drivers need to be changed and upgraded.

Danger walk

Commuters walking through Forrest Street, Swieqi, risk life and limb as the pavement is in really bad shape and in urgent need of repair. The pavement, damaged by workers driving bulldozers over it, is often used by people taking young children to the nearby HappyKidz nursery and they have no alternative but to walk on the road. Use of prams or wheelchairs is impossible.

Lengthy process

Renewing expired ID cards at the Identity Malta offices in Gattard House, Blata l-Bajda, is far from a one-stop experience. You glide from room one to room four, getting your application forms stamped and stickers affixed. In the last room, only two of six windows are open and waiting time averages 45 minutes. Cannot a faster system be introduced, or is the lengthy bureaucratic process purposely long to provide more jobs?

Inadequate cover

Trucks leaving the Marsascala Sant’Antnin recycling plant are not being adequately covered, resulting in waste, including empty water bottles and plastic bags, falling on to the road. This not only distracts motorists but the streets in the trucks’ path end up being littered with waste. Why are these trucks being allowed to drive around without the adequate covering? They should be inspected thoroughly before leaving the plant.

Arch building

What’s happening to the Fleur-de-Lys arch? Work to build a replica of the historic arch (depicted in the photomontage above) started about a year ago after a lot of turmoil and controversies. Yet the work now seems to be at a standstill. Why? What happened? People, and residents in particular, deserve an explanation.
