Minutes before yesterday's dramatic incident at the Paqpaqli show, the tycoon car owner at the wheel of the Porsche supercar which caused the carnage spoke of his pride in having brought four of his supercars for free to support charity.

Briton Paul Bailey owns 76 cars and brought four top-of-the-line sportscars to Malta for free to support L-Istrina, the biggest fund-raising event of the Malta Community Chest Fund. Among them were the 'trinity of supercars - The McLaren P1, La Ferrari and the ill-fated Porsche Spyder.

Mr Bailey was injured when his Porsche spun and crashed into spectators.

Paul and Selena Bailey made their fortune when they sold a communications/video conferencing company they founded for £28million in 2012.
