Cynosure, a developer and manufacturer of light-based aesthetic treatment systems from the US, chose Malta as the destination for its annual EU symposium.

Over 180 delegates from more than 25 countries, including the US, Europe, Russia and the Middle East, shared the latest trends and techniques in the laser and light-based med-aesthetic industry.

Local aesthetic doctors attended the three-day symposium. The main sessions were held at the Corinthia St George’s Bay Resort, while live workshops took place at the Persona Med-Aesthetic Centre in Ta’ Xbiex.

World renowned experts in the fields of plastic surgery and dermatology gave talks on the latest innovations and advances in non-invasive med-aesthetic procedures, including facial rejuvenation, body contouring, tattoo removal and dermatological treatments. Most of the sessions included live demonstrations that featured effective treatments aesthetic and dermatological needs using cutting-edge technology.

Top speakers included Larry Bass (US) and Klaus Hoffmann (Germany). Dr Bass is an authority on advanced technologies in aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr Hoffmann, the pioneer of tattoo removal, is an early adopter of picosecond technology and has extensive clinical experience with Cynosure’s PicoSure laser, which has been clinically proven to successfully treat the full colour spectrum of tattoo inks.

A highlight of the event was a live surgical session transmitted from the centre’s operating theatre to delegates, focusing on facial laser rejuvenation, particularly on laser contouring for smaller areas such as neck and jaw line using the SmartLipo PrecisionTX technology.
