• The feast of St Francis of Assisi will be celebrated today at Our Lady of Graces Sanctuary, Victoria. Coadjutor Bishop of Garissa, Kenya, Joseph Alessandro will lead Mass at 9am, followed by the traditional blessing of pets and animals on the church parvis. The feast will also be celebrated at St Francis church, Victoria, where the blessing of animals and children’s pets will start at 10.30am.
• A blood donation session will be held at Gozo General Hospital today from 8am to 1pm.
• The second edition of the Oasi Cup Run on the theme ‘Say no to addiction, yes to a healthy lifestyle’ will be held today by the Oasi Foundation. Participants are to meet at 9.30am in front of The Duke shopping centre, Victoria.
• At Don Bosco oratory, Victoria, The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be screened today at 5.30pm and Far from the Madding Crowd at 8pm.
•The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Ħamet, on Saturday at 8pm,followed by Mass at midnight.
• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo will hold a charity sale at the football ground next to the main car park, Victoria, next Sunday from 8am to 1pm. Sellers pay €10 per car space on the day. For information call 2155 3336 or 2155 1180.
• Gozo Live is holding a writing participation for students on the island. Participants may submit stories, essays or poems in English or Maltese on any subject and of any length to gozolive2018@gmail.com by October 16. Teachers and parents may submit students’ entries on their behalf. Entries should be accompanied by the participant’s name, e-mail address, mobile number, age and the name of the school he or she attends.
• Eucharistic adoration for vocations will be held on Thursday from 6.30am to 5pm in the Sacred Heart Seminary chapel, Victoria.
• Il-Fergħa Ewkaristika (Għawdex) will hold an hour of adoration on Thursday from 9 to 10am at Our Lady of Pompeii church, Victoria. The rosary will be recited at 8.45am. Everyone is invited.
