Volotea will be operating flights between Malta and Catania from next year.
There will be flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting from March 24 with fares starting from €19.99 one way, tax included.
Commercial country manager Valeria Rebasti said the airline hoped to launch flights to other destinations in the coming years.
She said Malta was the first international route the airline was operating to from Catania airport.
Volotea currently operates 157 routes among 67 small and medium European cities in 10 countries (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Czech Republic, Croatia, Israel, Albania and Moldova).
Since it was set up in 2012, it has transported more than six million passengers in Europe.
