Ryanair is to increase its frequency between Malta and Edinburgh to five flights a week from March, CEO Michael O’Leary has announced.

The low cost airline currently operates three flights a week between the Scottish capital and Malta.

Edinburgh Airport CEO Gordon Dewar, speaking at a press conference with Mr O'Leary,  called the route to Malta a ‘highlight’ for the airport.

Ryanair said it will also operate more flights from Edinburgh to Alicante, Barcelona, Brussels, Gdansk, Krakow, London, Malaga and Palma.
