A 24-year-old Dutchman today agreed to his extradition to The Netherlands where he is wanted to face charges of participation in organised crime and forgery.

Richard Alexander Kroon, who lives in Sliema, appeared before Magistrate Charmaine Galea after the Maltese police received a European Arrest Warrant, issued on August 24.

Police Inspector Yvonne Farrugia told the court that Mr Kroon is wanted in his home country for prosecution for crimes of participation in organised crime, laundering of the proceeds of crime and forgery of administrative documents and their trafficking.

Defence lawyers Lucio Sciriha, Giannella de Marco and Gianluca Caruana Curran said their client was consenting to his extradition.

Magistrate Galea therefore upheld the prosecution's request for his extradition and ordered that he be held in custody until he is extradited from Malta.
