In March 2013, the Labour Party came into power with a resounding victory. It promised a lot of nice things: eradicating corruption, promotions and appointments on meritocracy, a more healthy environment, ending the culture of political backscratching, which it had criticised so strongly when in Opposition, and so on and so forth.
Yet, Labour in government opted for the opposite course of action. Important issues have been ignored. Its promises of good, exemplary governance were wiped away on many an occasion and the people of these islands are sick and tired of hearing the same routine excuses repeated over and over again.
There is an urgent need of a new way how to tackle politics. We were promised this much by the Labour government. It pledged to do away with the aura of rotten governance and crack down hard on any corrupt practices coming from those who feel they are untouchable.
The ills affecting our country are abound. This government has to stop turning a blind eye to the deeds of those who are careless and irresponsible.
