Wilson: Bournemouth suffered a serious blow to their first ever campaign in the top flight of English football yesterday when leading goalscorer Callum Wilson was ruled out for at least six months with a knee injury. Scans confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, sustained during the 2-1 defeat at Stoke , and the striker will have an operation next week.

Luiz: Brazil centre back David Luiz is doubtful for Paris St Germain’s Champions League Group A game at Shakhtar Donetsk, coach Laurent Blanc said yesterday. “We rested him at Nantes (in Ligue 1 last Saturday) because he has some pain in his knee, and it’s difficult to nurse,” Blanc said. “It’s not serious but it’s been bothering him a little. I’ll make a decision after today’s training session.”

Limbersky: Czech national coach Pavel Vrba dropped left-back David Limbersky for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Turkey and the Netherlands after one of the team’s steadiest defenders crashed his car while under the influence of alcohol. Limbersky was caught by police last month after smashing his Bentley into a brick wall in Prague and tried to flee the scene.

Griffiths: Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been handed a suspended two-match ban and fined £2,500 after admitting singing an offensive song about former Hearts player Rudi Skacel. The ex-Hibernian forward was last week admonished by a sheriff despite also confessing to the incident in court, but he has now been punished by the Scottish Football Association.

Lamela: Tottenham midfielder Erik Lamela has been called up by Argentina for their World Cup qualifiers after captain Lionel Messi and Ever Banega withdrew with injuries. Lamela has been drafted into the squad for the matches at home to Ecuador on Oct. 8 and away to Paraguay five days later.
