It seems there is consensus that once the existing problem of 40,000 (or is it 120,000) migrants is solved by redistribution, then, Europe, having done its duty, can return to ‘business as usual’.

But what about the next 100,000 or more (much more likely, more) who will follow them?

This is not a ‘one-off’ but a migration problem that will persist beyond the foreseeable future.

On the subject of quotas – mandatory or otherwise – there is a potentially alarming prospect. What happens if those ‘unfortunate’ to be allocated to countries in central/eastern Europe refuse to go?
