Gozo charm is unique in many ways. However, the ‘invasion’ of aluminium apertures is a big threat to the beauty of this island.

There seems to be uncontrolled installation of aluminium doors and windows – particularly of the gold-coloured type – on the façades of houses, whether old or new.

It is truly a pity that this invasion is also affecting village cores, including village squares.

A case in point among themany examples is the mainGħasri square.

Both Mepa and Gozo Heritage should take note.
