The whirlwind of catwalk shows and collection presentations continues in Milan fashion week. You start to see the same familiar faces at each show, but as each day progresses everyone looks more and more tired.

The enthusiasm prevails though, in this industry, passion is always present and the promise of viewing a brilliant new collection or discovering a new exciting designer is enough adrenaline to drive you on.

Here are some more catwalk show highlights for Spring Summer 2016

Aigner

Aigner’s collection is titled Underwater Love, inspired by the magical underwater world. It is a very fresh and light collection with a lovely palette based around coral and turquoise.

Transparent fabrics and inserts were used, providing a sensual feel but not in a vulgar manner, still very light and fresh. Shimmering fabrics glistened and shone on the catwalk, in particular, a pink two piece that was particularly eye-catching.

The leather accessories, as always, are stellar and finished with a very high attention to detail.

Byblos

Byblos always presents great feminine pieces. Strong, bold colours were a feature in this botanical-garden-inspired collection.

There was some very interesting play with texture and movement within the pieces, geometric prints were worked into the folds of dresses and skirts and these came to life beautifully when the models walked down the catwalk. The colour palette ranged from sharp monochrome to beautiful colour combinations with ethnic-inspired prints.

Daizy Shely

At Daizy Shely fun, colour and flirty fashion reigned supreme. The inspiration and mood of the collection is the idea of looking at the world, in particular, the sea and ocean, from above.

This new designer was handpicked by Giorgio Armani to showcase in his theatre for this season and it’s not hard to see why - there’s no fumbling around here, her concept is strong throughout the entire collection. Horizontal, block-colour stripes were a big feature in this collection - used on long skirts, dresses and even on fur oversized coats.

The collection also had a combination of fur, feathers, plastic sequins and satin skirts, interestingly enough everything worked wonderfully together.

Antonio Marras

At Antonio Marras, it was much more than just a catwalk show, the setting of the show, the design of the catwalk and the finale was more akin to the experience of being immersed in a story.

The catwalk was covered in big boulders that were tied with ropes descending from the ceiling, whilst the back wall of the catwalk was decorated with a wall of kilim rugs. Beautiful feminine, intricate clothes were presented on models wearing an interesting braided hairstyle, fabulous jewellery and mainly sneakers and flat shoes.

The shoes provided a perfect link between classical looks with intricate details such as gold embroidery and a more modern contemporary styling idea. The collection was inspired by the work of Armenian artist Sergej Iosifovič Paradžanov. The all-white finale had the audience up on their feet in excitement.
