For many students, university life is a fork in the road. It is a crucial – and often scary – time to assess the various career options available as students prepare to take the plunge into their chosen professional path.

Depending on their area of study, some students are in the enviable, yet confusing position of having several career options available to them. This is certainly the case for those students currently studying, or planning on studying, accountancy. The accountancy professional in Malta is notoriously in high demand, with various organisations vying for the best and brightest students.

Today’s students are smart and inquisitive when it comes to contemplating their options. PwC, the leading professional services firm in Malta, continues to lead the pack when it comes to being viewed locally as the employer of first choice. This comes as no surprise when considering that ultimately many students aspire to work with an organisation which has the reputation for offering exciting career prospects, while also investing in professional development.

This was further cemented when it was recently announced that PwC ranked second (after Google) in the 2015 Universum World’s Most Attractive Employer survey for business students.

In order to reach this conclusion, over 700,000 students and professionals worldwide were asked about their career goals, what they value in a prospective employer and how they view employers in comparison to their competitors.

“We are pleased to have come out on top in the Universum survey,” Lisa Pullicino, human capital partner, PwC, said. “Our efforts as a firm to offer exemplary career prospects continue to be recognised. We are especially proud of our various student programmes. We give students the opportunity to supplement their academics with the development of their softer skills. This prepares them for what it means to be a professional in today’s world of work.”

PwC’s programmes include their CareerDeal programme for students studying accountancy at the University of Malta, their ACCA and ACA programmes for aspiring accountants coming from diverse academic backgrounds and their programmes for law and IT students.
