Neptunes Swimming Summer School ended with a difference this year as young swimmers had the opportunity to participate in fun races organised by the club while raising donations for charity.

The swimming club hosted a number of aquatic activities in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. The programme opened with fun races for youngsters, all of whom received participation medals and a certificate of attendance.

Afterwards a number of participants enjoyed a swim at Balluta Bay, St Julian’s.

A swimathon followed, in which senior swimmers swam in the club’s pool for two hours. A number of veteran swimmers took part in the event, as well as swimmers from Inspire’s swimming club, making it a feast of sport for solidarity.

The programme closed with performances by the synchronised swimming team, raising €1,600.

Neptunes Swimming Team aims to create an environment where individuals can experience both the enjoyment of, and personal excellence in swimming. The squads at the club have now started training for the new season.

The winter swimming school for young children started last Thursday. More information is available on www.neptuneswpsc.com.
