Malta have secured an historic qualification for the European Championship finals after beating Poland 13-8 in their second qualifying group G game this evening.

Needing two wins from their second qualification tournament, which got underway at the National Pool yesterday, Malta, led by Karl Izzo, completed their mission today after seeing off Poland.

Yesterday, Malta thumped Switzerland 20-8 in their opening game. Izzo’s team wrap up their commitments this morning when they face Germany.

The European Championship will take place in Serbia next January.
