The recent Muscat-Renzi meeting, which caused some journalistic speculation on oil drilling, sent my mind back to the days before the general election when Joe Mizzi, now a Cabinet minister, had said that if the Labour Party won the election he would tell us where the oil is because “he knew”.

Of course, this promise, like others made by Labour, has not been kept. However, I always liked Mizzi’s sense of humour and I suppose this promise was another notch in his humorous record. Yet, if he were serious, I feel it is about time he told us where, to lay at rest the speculative journalistic reports we are now reading about.
