I refer to the article titled ‘Wasteserv contractor gets new deal despite barrage of criticism’ (September 22).

I should point out that the Wasteserv contractor being referred to participated and won a new tender issued by Wasteserv.

This new tender had new specifications and conditions that were much more favourable to Wasteserv as opposed to that signed with the same contractor by the previous administration in 2011.

I should emphasise that Wasteserv did not undertake any renegotiation of the old contract but the same contractor was the winning bidder under the revised tender conditions.
