Having just read about the knifing in Paceville the weekend before the last, I find myself appalled and dismayed.

The accused, it appears, has humanitarian protection, but what about the victims?

If anybody is found guilty of committing such a crime in a country that is protecting him/her, the suspect should be sent back to the country of origin in case of a conviction, regardless of why s/he is being protected.

Such a person would not deserve protection, humanitarian or otherwise.

Such a sort of person would not need humanitarian help but a short sharp lesson in how to behave and get on with his/her life in his/her new home and be grateful for the second chance s/he has been given by Malta.
