I suspect I am not the first to voice concerns regarding the dangerous driving along The Strand in Sliema and Gżira.

Recently I witnessed an elderly gentleman being hit by a speeding motorcycle – who did not stop when the lights were red – on a zebra crossing near Tre Angeli restaurant.

In another incident my husband and I were waiting for the lights to change outside the Kennedy Hotel before attempting to cross. A speeding car hit a bend, lost control and nearly hit us.

Where are the speed control signs? Where are the speed cameras? How many people have to be killed or injured before something is done?

This is a tourist area and people are fearing for their lives on this stretch of road. Nowhere in Europe would tolerate this state of affairs.

Something needs to be done now.
