London Fashion Week (LFW), perhaps more than any other fashion week has always had a thriving street style element - the London fashion scene, in general, is quite an eclectic one - around fashion week this becomes even more apparent.

This season, however, has seen a major change to LFW - there’s been a venue change and rather than the event being staged at Somerset house, it has moved to Brewer Street car park in the middle of Soho.

The street style element is probably the one to be most highly affected. Somerset house, with its circular layout and vast space meant that anyone, whether or not directly involved could be there, dressed to the nines, hoping to get spotted. At this new location street style photographers are now limited to grabbing shots on the streets around the venue rather than having ample space where to ask people to pose.

That being said, on the first day of LFW there were still a number of fashionistas out and about. The weather is an interesting mix of sun, wind and rain meaning that there were outfits ranging from woolen coats to sleeveless dresses. What is quite special about the London fashion scene is the different unique ways they combine different pieces to create their looks.

They don’t stick to any so-called rules and each person seems to have their own style.

As always though, a number of prevalent trends stick out. Masculine shapes, especially when it comes to outerwear still seems a very big hit especially in woolen fabrics and checked patterns.

A range of footwear was displayed - many different versions of sneakers and platform shoes but rather surprisingly very few heels. The ubiquitous lace-up sandal trend also seems to be carrying over from the summer into the winter, at least until the weather gets much colder.

As regards bags, it seems that the fashion crowd is trending towards plainer, sleeker, classier bags rather than the concept of the ‘look-at-me’ bag that was so popular over the last few years.
