Xandriku Fest – Ngħixu Xandriku fl-Imghoddi, will take place in Xandriku Street, Nadur, on Saturday 7pm. The evening will take visitors on a journey through the years to relive the rich history this street evokes.

The main event will be a barbecue with a French theme, reminiscent of the years Malta spent under French rule and Napoleon.

Various exhibitions from the British period, including a display of military vehicles, will be on show. The Kelinu Grima Martime Museum will be open to the public free of charge.

Along the street, one will also be able to see a number of maskarati from Nadur’s spontaneous carnival.

Well-known sculptors and painters, such as Lazzru Pisani and Franġisk Saver Sciortino, are known to have frequented this street. Even Gozitan poet Mary Meilak was encaptured by the street’s beauty in her poem Xandriku.

Tombola will be played, as well as traditional children’s games. There will also be music from the 50s, 60s and 70s and traditional folk music and dance.

The event is organised by Għaqda Armar Triq Xandriku, in collaboration with Nadur council.
