Four sea lions were released back into the wild after two months of treatment at a Peruvian ecological preserve.

The rescued sea lions were seven months old when marine biologists took them in for treatment of symptoms related to hemorrhagic gastritis, pneumonia, malnutrition and severe dehydration.

After being released from their cages the sea lions swam towards the island of Palomino, where thousands of sea lions call home.

Scientists said the animals became sick because of higher temperatures caused by the weather phenomenon known as El Nino.
